From November 5th to 7th, the inaugural mLife Research Conference 2024 took place in Guangming Science City, Shenzhen. Nearly 300 scholars from France, Germany, Brazil, the United States, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Austria, the United Kingdom, and China gathered at this grand event to present reports around 12 microbiology-related themes and discuss the latest developments in the field of microbiology.

The conference aims to promote academic exchanges in the frontier fields of microbiology, provide a high-level platform for disciplinary communication among microbiologists, and foster cooperation between young researchers and students.

The conference was jointly organized by the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Shenzhen Synthetic Biology Innovation Institute, with the cooperation of Southern University of Science and Technology and Shenzhen University. The conference chairs were composed of four experts: Dr. Huang Li from the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Dr. Zhou Ji Zhong from the University of Oklahoma, Dr. Qian Wei from the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Dr. Liu Chen Li from the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The three-day conference featured eight parallel forums, inviting renowned experts in the field of microbiology, members of the mLife journal editorial board, and young researchers. The speakers reported and shared on cutting-edge topics such as genetics, biochemistry and molecular biology, biodiversity, ecology and evolution, metabolism and physiology, covering the latest scientific research progress, results, future development trends of the discipline, and potential applications.

It is reported that mLife Journal is a high-level academic journal focusing on cutting-edge achievements in the field of microbiology, hosted by the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, with the Chinese Society of Microbiology as a cooperating unit, committed to publishing high-quality original research articles.
