Liu Chenli, a researcher with Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, won an award for innovation in the 16th event of C.C. Tan Life Science Awards. The C.C. Tan Life Science Awards aims to uphold C.C. Tan’s dedication to the cause of life science, promote the originality of life science research and the industrialization of research achievements in China, promote academic exchanges in the field of life science in China, encourage Chinese life science workers to innovate constantly, and make contributions to the construction of an innovative country.
The C.C. Tan Life Science Awards has now become the life science award with the highest level in China.
The awarding ceremony
On November 18, the 16th awarding ceremony of C.C. Tan Life Science Award was held in Jiangnan University. Nobel Prize winner Professor Paul Nurse was awarded the C.C. Tan Life Science Award for International Cooperation for his contribution to the research field of “key regulators in the cell cycle”, which was of far-reaching significance for opening up new ways to treat cancer. In addition, he has maintained a long-term research cooperation with Chinese researchers and made important contributions to promoting academic exchanges between China and the UK. It was the first Nobel Prize winner to win the award in the past 16 years.
The awarding ceremony was hosted by the Consortium of Life Science of China Association for Science and Technology and C.C. Tan Life Science Award Committee, and organized by Jiangnan University and Shanghai Biomedical Industry Association.

In 2008, the centenary birthday of Mr. C.C. Tan was celebrated, when the C.C. Tan Life Science Awards was established.
Mr. C.C. Tan is one of the founders of modern genetics in China and an outstanding scientist and educator in modern China. He established China’s first genetics major, the first institute of genetics, and the first academy of life sciences.
The purpose of this award is to uphold Mr. Tan’s dedication to the cause of life science, promote the industrialization of life science research achievements, and encourage Chinese life science workers to keep innovating.
The C.C. Tan Life Science Awards has now become the life science award with the highest level in China.
