Yi-Ming Shi obtained his Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry from the Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences. With the support of the Humboldt Foundation, he conducted postdoctoral research at Goethe University Frankfurt in Germany. He was later appointed as the Project Group Leader at the Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology. Since 2023, he has become a professor at the Institute of Synthetic Biology, Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
