A synthetic cell would be a perfectly programmable bio-factory, engineered for unparalleled efficiency in producing pharmaceuticals and biofuels. This project also acts as a powerful catalyst, driving advancements in DNA synthesis, computational modeling, and the entire toolkit of synthetic biology. Ultimately, we are building a synthetic cell not just to replicate life, butto understand and then rewrite its rules for humanity's benefit.
The SynCell Asia Initiativeunites the brightest minds across Asia in the quest to build a synthetic cell. Founded in 2023 in Shenzhen, our consortium forges an interconnected community where academic insight, industrial expertise, and a shared passion for innovation are able to converge. Today, we have grown into a dynamic network spanning 6 countries and over 30 leading universities and research institutes, fueling groundbreaking interdisciplinary research in synthetic cell and fostering a collaborative culture without borders.
