Dr. Tong Si, Professor of synthetic biology in Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology (SIAT), Chinese Academy of Sciences. He obtained a B.Sc. degree in Chemistry and Biology from Tsinghua University and a Ph.D. degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the United States. The research group focuses on integrating synthetic biology, robotic automation, and high-throughput analytical approaches to address grand challenges in human health and sustainability via fundamental and applied research on microbial biochemistry. The preliminary results have been published in more than 50 papers in internationally renowned academic journals such as Nature Communications, JACS, Angew. Chem., Metabolic Engineering, with over 2,971 citations on Google Scholar and an h-index of 24.  He served as the young editorial board member of ACS Synthetic Biology, the editorial board member of the journal Synthetic Biology Journal (Chinese), and a member of the youth working group of the Chinese Society of Biotechnology. He has been honored as a 1000 Young Talent Program, Pearl River Young Talent Plan, Guangdong Province, and a distinguished youth in Shenzhen.
