The first mLife Research Conference 2024 was successfully held in Shenzhen"s Guangming Science City from November 5 to 7. The conference brought together nearly 300 scholars from France, Germany, Brazil, the United States, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Austria, the United Kingdom, China and other countries worldwide. Participants engaged in vibrant discussions on 12 microbiology-related topics, collectively exploring the latest developments in microbiological sciences.

The conference aimed to promote academic exchanges in cutting-edge microbiology research, providing a high-level platform for scientific communication among microbiology researchers. It particularly emphasized fostering collaboration between young scientists and students, creating valuable opportunities for the next generation of researchers to connect with established experts in the field. The event successfully facilitated international cooperation and knowledge sharing across the global microbiology community.

The conference was jointly organized by the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology (SIAT) of CAS, and the Shenzhen Institute of Synthetic Biology, with co-organization by Southern University of Science and Technology and Shenzhen University. The conference chair committee consisted of four distinguished experts: Researcher Huang Li from the Institute of Microbiology, CAS; Researcher Zhou Jizhong from the University of Oklahoma, USA; Researcher Qian Wei from the Institute of Microbiology, CAS; and Researcher Liu Chenli from the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, CAS.

Over the three-day event, the conference featured eight parallel forums that brought together renowned microbiology experts from around the world, editorial board members of mLife Journal, and young researchers. Invited speakers presented cutting-edge research and shared insights on various topics including genetics, biochemistry and molecular biology, biodiversity, ecology and evolution, as well as metabolism and physiology. The presentations covered the latest scientific advancements, research outcomes, future disciplinary trends, and potential applications.

It is noteworthy that mLife Journal is a high-level academic publication focused on frontier achievements in microbiology. Sponsored by the Institute of Microbiology, CAS and partnered with the Chinese Society for Microbiology, the journal is dedicated to publishing high-quality original research articles.

Looking ahead, the mLife Research Conference will leverage the journal as a platform to showcase the latest research findings and academic discussions to the global scientific community, establishing a high-caliber academic exchange platform for microbiologists worldwide. This initiative will further strengthen international collaboration and advance the development of microbial sciences.
